We are delighted to inform you that Greece will be hosting the 13th EPNS Congress at the Megaron Athens International Conference Centre in Athens on 18-21 September 2019! The main theme for the 2019 congress will be: Paediatric Neurology and Rare Diseases: Genetics & Environment, Progression & Transition thus, coinciding with the fact that 2019 has been declared as “the Year of Rare Diseases” Therapy, prognosis and outcome of rare diseases, as well as their progression & transition to adolescence and adulthood, represent important issues and challenges both for the family and the patients, as well as for the whole health system in general (health care professionals, industry and national authorities). A large number of paediatric but also adult specialists, apart from neurologists, are involved in the care of little patients with complex rare neurological diseases, thus highlighting the need of interaction and collaboration needed at the highest level in order to offer optimum therapeutic options and a better quality of life. This prestigious congress will cover, in plenary and parallel sessions, the following major topics: Emergency & critical care neurology, rare neurogenetic & neurometabolic diseases, clinical trials & registries, sleep, but also epilepsy, movement & neuromuscular disorders, intellectual disability and autism, among them. Research and Science

The main role of the EPNS Research and Scientific Committee is to advise on the scientific programme of the EPNS congress which is held biennially. In addition they provide guidance for symposia or sessions organised, or co-organised, by the EPNS within scientific meetings of other societies. Another important activity of the EPNS Research and Scientific Committee is the development of a European Research Conference in Paediatric Neurology, held every two years.

EPNS Board Membership

Under Article 12 of the Society’s Constitution, the EPNS is governed by a Board consisting of at least 12 and a maximum of 25 members. The Election of the EPNS Board members takes place every 4 years.

Honorary Membership

Honorary membership is for persons who the society wishes to honour for outstanding distinction in the field of paediatric neurology. Honorary membership is the highest honour which the EPNS can give and it recognises an exceptional contribution at international level to the field of paediatric neurology.

Education & Training

Courses and bursaries are funded from the EPNS fees paid and any surplus from the EPNS biennial Congress.

Research and Science

The Scientific Committee also organises workshops, usually attached to congresses, aimed at the development of guidelines for diagnosis and/or treatment trials in specific pathologies.

Education & Training

The EPNS has a programme of training courses to offer fellows and (young) paediatric neurologists the opportunity to learn paediatric neurology at a level prescribed by the Syllabus of the EPNS, to meet experts in the field and to exchange knowledge and personal experience. These are two-day courses at a location that can be easily reached at a relatively low cost. There will be a written examination at the end of the course. Because of the interactive character of the course, there is an upper limit of around 75 participants.
