Next Journal Club Webinar in the series:
Date: Wednesday 25 June 2025
Time: 17:00h Central European Time
Topic: Hematopoietic Stem- and Progenitor-Cell Gene Therapy for Hurler Syndrome
ARTICLE: CLICK HERE
Description: Hurler syndrome is the severe phenotype of Mucopolysaccharidosis type I leading to Glycosaminoglycan accumulation in CNS in other organs. Life expectancy is severely limited with organ manifestations as dysostosis multiplex, hearing loss, heart disease, spinal cord compression and neurocognitive regression. Standard of care consists of enzyme replacement therapy and allogenic hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT). However both therapy modalities have limitations in (long term) effect on the skeletal system and CNS. In this journal club we will discuss the interim results in a cohort of 8 children with Hurler Syndrome treated with Hematopoietic Stem- and Progenitor-Cell Gene Therapy.
