General training course information:
The EPNS has been organising training courses in the Caucasus region in alternate years covering topics related to paediatric neurology since 2014. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic the 4th in the series transitioned to a fully virtual event. In 2024 and now in 2026 we are delighted to offer the best of both worlds by welcoming delegates to Tbilisi in-person whilst also offering the flexibility of virtual attendance for delegates where this works better.
Main topics covered in 2026:
- Acute febrile encepahlalopathy (viral infections, clinical manifestation and radiological findings).
- Coma- assessment and etiology, diagnosis of death
- Acute life threatening events in children: status dystonicus, acute agitation/ abnormal movements (case scenarios, discussion, didactic talk).
- Immune mediated encephalopathies
- pediatric stroke (ischemic and hemmoragic).
- The child with sub (acute) severe headache at emergency ward.
- Acute facial palsy and other cranial nerve deficits (case scenarios, discussion, didactic talk).
- Epileptic or non epileptic (video session).
- Acute visual problems
- Acute ataxia
- Acute life threatening events in children: Status Epilepticus
- Acute progressive paralysis (GBS, acute flaccid paralysis etc)
- Acute functional loss (hemisyndrome, visual loss seizure like).
- Acute Metabolic encephalopathies

The CALL to SUBMIT real life Case Presentations NOW OPEN! Closes before 27 September 2026
Case presentation submissions with clear identifiable neurological aetiology or with clear evidence-based outcome measures of therapy regimes are welcome.
- Both in-person and virtual delegates are invited to submit case presentations.
- Only one case presentation can be submitted per participant.
- Participant case presentations will take place either during a platform session in the full training course programme or within a break-out room with faculty members and a smaller group of participants.
- The training course moderators will decide when and where the case presentations will take place.
- All case presentation candidates will be notified of the outcome of their submission by email.
- Successful candidates will be given more information about the date/time of the case presentation and the technicalities of how to present their case.
- A bursary will be awarded to the 2 best-case presentations.
Case Presentations: PowerPoint Slides Information
Presentations MUST NOT include patient information/pictures without the appropriate consent.
5 minutes will be allocated to each presentation, plus a further 5-10 minutes to discuss with the group.
***A maximum 6 PowerPoint slides *** must be submitted (including title slide).:
- Slide 1: Title slide: Case Name, Doctor’s name, Doctor’s Hospital, location, and country.
- Slides 2 to 4: give details of the story
- Slide 5: differential thoughts, discussion points
- Slide 6: brief summary.
Each Slide must be:
- Minimum font size 28
- Only 7 lines
- Black on white
