The EPNS has a programme of training courses to offer fellows and (young) paediatric neurologists the opportunity to learn paediatric neurology at a level prescribed by the Syllabus of the EPNS (this revision of the 2002 Syllabus is a draft version, awaiting European regulatory approval), to meet experts in the field and to exchange knowledge and personal experience. These are two-day courses at a location that can be easily reached at a relatively low cost. There will be a written examination at the end of the course. Because of the interactive character of the course, there is an upper limit of around 75 participants.
The style of teaching will combine lectures, workshops and interactive sessions. A short list of reading material such as review papers will be sent to the participants a few weeks before the course.
The first series of six courses (2003-2008) were held on different locations throughout Europe and were often combined with international meetings such as the EPNS or EACD congress. The second series (2009-2011) will be held on a stand-alone basis on a fixed location in Romania with two separate courses back to back in one week.
We expect that all training courses from the second series will be accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME).
Courses and bursaries are funded from the fees paid by participants, any surplus from the EPNS bi-ennial Congress and by sponsors. The EPNS also provides a guarantee.
